Norway is participating in a number of international studies on learning outcome and in autumn 2016 the results were presented from the last round of the 2 most comprehensive studies, PISA and TIMSS.
A qualitative video study with classroom observations of science teaching, which is based on the challenges that are uncovered through TIMSS and PISA will enable us to say more on the connection between how a teacher teaches and what pupils learn. Furthermore, the studies will be an important knowledge basis for both local and government decision makers as regards possibilities for in-depth study and teachers' competence needs in the sciences.
