Banedanmark’s DWDM network will be EOL (End-Of-Life) by the end of 2018. Moreover, the current network, which was built between 2012-2013, is not able to support the current and future needs of Banedanmark’s infrastructure in terms of flexibility, scalability, and manageability. The current network is based on a well-known /well-established technology. And it has served its purpose, but it is too static and requires a considerable amount of manual intervention when implementing and commissioning new services.
Banedanmark is planning to replace this network by a more modern and up-to-date DWDM network, allowing Banedanmark to support the overlay network requirements. Moreover, this network is going to make it possible for Banedanmark to reduce OPEX by providing automatized configuration and protection capabilities. The new network must also be capable of adapting to future requirements with regards to capacity and functionality.
