The Biotech Research and Innovation Center (BRIC) is an elite research center at the Faculty of Health, Copenhagen University. It comprises 24 research groups within biomedical research and has a strong and long lasting cooperation with the Finsen Laboratory at Rigshospitalet. Recently, this cooperation lead to the establishment of a new research Program for Translational Hematology (PTH), which a. The instrument performs high throughput suspension screening using a flow cytometry based detector and produces multi-parameter, individual cell and bead measurements. The patented and proprietary technology of ‘air-gap-delimited’ sample separation allows for rapid low-volume measurements enabling multiplexed high throughput screening of samples in 96 and 384 well format. This technology is essential for high throughput analysis of primary cell material where the available numbers of cells is always a limiting factor. Other flow cytometry instruments are likely to require 10 times or more cells per analysed test condition as well as taking much longer time to do the analysis and are therefore not feasible to use for the intended application. The platform uses ForeCyt® software, the only acquisition and analysis software that provides a suite of sophisticated high throughput plate level analytics.
