Avinor AS is currently searching the market for solutions for implementing battery capacity in the energy system at Stavanger Airport Sola.
CASE DESCRIPTION:
In 2017 Stavanger airport has a project pending to build a large-scale solar park (3 000 sq. m) on the roof of the parking complex. The project has an innovative twist in that it wishes to test the use of batteries charged from solar panels. The batteries aims to serve two purposes:
* Reduce peak load at the airport to reduce the load on the electricity net and the electricity bill of the airport
* Replace the diesel generator used for emergency power with batteries to reduce the climate footprint of the airport
Our market research aims at finding possible solutions for both purposes. The goal is to charge the batteries directly from the solar park if feasible. However, the batteries used for emergency power also has to be connected to the net so that the batteries are always fully charged.
