luorescent-marked PCR products from the DNA profile analysis in crime cases are separated and detected on Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) instruments. The instrument must be able to:
1) separate minimum 6 fluorescent colors
2) separate PCR fragments with length differences < 1 bp
3) 80 – 500 bp
4) have at least 24 capillaries
5) Electrokinetic injection
6) < 1 hour/injection
To our knowledge, there are no other instruments than Thermo Fishers AB3500XL and SeqStudio Flex on the marked, that meet these requirements.
Besides, AB3500XL and SeqStudioFlex are already tested and validated at DFI which makes
implementation/validation of new instrument shorter and low-cost.
