Universitetet i Oslo, Avdeling for klinisk molekylærbiologi (EpiGen) (Oslo University, Department of Clinical Molecular Biology (EpiGen)) will procure an ultrasonicator that will primarily be used for highly specific clipping of DNA/RNA/chromatin from various sources. Is is a necessary step before next generation sequencing. The machine will also be used for ‘Acoustic Paraffin Emulsification’ of nucleic acid from Formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) samples and for cell and tissue lysis. We are not aware of any other instructs in the market that in addition to highly specific fragmentation of DNA/RNA/chromatin can also carry out the other above-named functions.
