Aalborg University Department of Energy Technology needs to purchase laboratory equipment used for thermal impedance characterizations and active power cycling of power semiconductor modules for X-power project. The equipment should be able to characterize the dynamic thermal impedances of different physical layers of power semiconductor modules without the need of breaking the modules and fulfill the standard JESD51-14. Meanwhile, the equipment should be able to perform power cycling testing of power semiconductor modules with online monitoring of health indicators. We have found the only available equipment from Mentor Graphics that can fulfill the above requirements. In fact, it is the industry’s only JESD51-14 compliant solution, which refers to the transient dual interface test method for the measurement of the thermal resistance junction-to-case of semiconductor devices.
