The real time biosensor instrument will be based at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, where the research focus is on cutting edge medical research areas exploring the basis of disease, development of new methods for diagnosis and treatment and deriving and assessing in practice new treatments. Scientists within this institute and across the broader Faculty of Health Sciences require a biosensor system to enable scientists to explore functional relationships within biological systems. The proposed usage covers many types of molecular interactions including those of proteins, carbohydrates, DNA and lipids. Use will vary from highly automated and quantitative screening runs to qualitative analysis of complex systems using high quality manual mode operation.
