The study on the estimation of the number of women and girls at risk of FGM in selected EU Member States includes 3 key stages: identify and review existing studies on FGM risk estimation, carry out a pilot study in at least 3 Member States in order to estimate the number of women and girls at risk of being mutilated in the EU and develop methodological recommendations for risk estimation of FGM in all the EU MSs.
The contractor will assess the methodologies and approaches used in previous studies, pinpointing the advantages and shortcomings of some studies on FGM risk estimation which have been carried out in the EU.

The pilot study should be implemented in at least 3 MSs with properly grounded explanation on the choice of those Member States where there is a significant number of women and girls who were subjected to FGM or are at risk and where no countrywide FGM risk estimations were done before.
