Rail Net Denmark (RND) are currently upgrading the signalling systems on the entire national Danish railway network (2200 km) to ERTMS and CBTC where train detection is realized by axle counters instead of track circuits. When the signalling system is upgraded to ERTMS and CBTC it will no longer be possible to detect rail breaks using the conventional way as Rail Net Denmark has done so far. A result of upgrading the signalling system is that Rail Net Denmark needs to identify a new technology or way to detect rail breaks in the future. It is known that a lot of different technologies / systems is under development for this issue, but to get a better basis for decision, RND would like to get input from the market on potential solutions to the problem. This market dialogue precedes a possible tender on a rail break detection system. The purpose of the market dialogue is that Rail Net Denmark learn more about the technologies / systems which are available on the market or under development.
