NTB's news editorial supplies Norwegian media with continual updated news around the clock — 365 days a year. NTB notifies and follows-up all the important news stories, nationally and internationally, within politics, finance and society, sport and entertainment. NTB's photographers and video journalists turn out to document news events nationwide. The NTB news is quality controlled information that can safely be forwarded. Option for an extension of the contract for up to 2 years, 1 year at a time. DSS believes that the public procurement regulations § 5-2 (1) letter a can be used in this matter, as NTB is the only actor in the market that is an independent total supplier of news services for the press and mass media. NTB covers Norwegian and international news by sending out continually updated news reports. On a normal day, NTB sends out approx. 250 news reports. The reports go to the country's media editors and to companies, ministries and others who need to be continually kept up-to-date, which is particularly important for DSS and the joint ministries. The coverage of Norway at international news agencies such as Reuters, Ap or AFP is not broad enough or as in-depth as that from NTB. DSS is of the opinion that NTB as a unique service, which is independent with, thus, no binding to Norwegian authorities. The exception in the public procurement regulations § 5-2 (1) letter a is, thus, deemed to be fulfilled.
