The Center's research is focused on neural stem cell and glial progenitor biology as well as on astrocytic physiology and pathology, cerebral blood flow and its glial regulation. 5630000.00 The intended procurement is for the MILabs VECTor4CTUHR, a combined PET/SPECT/CT machine for small animal imaging, which allows for simultaneous acquisition of SPECT and PET as well as providing for high resolution dual energy CT imaging optimized for dynamic contrast enhanced imaging of CT contrast agents in vivo. The machine is crucial for advancing the study of the glymphatic system by tracking fluxes of both cerebrospinal fluid and ions simultaneously through the brain in rodents, and will be used on a regular basis by the lab for this purpose. According to the European Parliament and Council Directive No. 2014/24/ EC, Article 32. 2, point b, the University of Copenhagen believes that the MILabs VECTor4CTUHR delivers the largest detector surface available in the market for ultra-high resolution simultaneous and coregistered SPECT and PET imaging, Automated Quantitative 3D Autoradiography, and an ultra-high resolution, ultra-low dose and ultra-fast CTUHR subsystem, all of which cannot be provided by another supplier. The SPECT resolution of <0.25mm is offered by no other supplier, and will provide us with otherwise unobtainable levels of anatomical detail of localized energy metabolism simultaneous with the dynamics of CSF radiotracers.
