St Olav's Hospital, Department of Pathology and Medical Genetics, Medical Genetic Laboratory, is seeking to purchase DNA sequencers.
The current situation:
As of today we run approx. 35,000 song sequences and 4,000 fragment analyses per annum.
Due to the need to increase capacity and replace old equipment, we are seeking to buy higher capacity sequencers than the one we currently have (16- capillary array).
We want to buy a ABI 3730 48-capillary array sequencer from Life Technologies, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Advantages of currently known instrumentation:
— Has a known sample preparation;
— Has a known analysis platform;
— Able to analyze both sequences and do fragment analysis (6 different electrophoreses simultaneously);
— Able to analyse PCR products with different- length bp (20-900 bp) in a single run;
— Has a plate feeder, i.e. the sequencer can be fed for a longer time without personnel present;
— Uses two Hamilton pipetting robots to prepare samples;
— Has a low per-sample cost.
Life Technologies, a subsidiary of Thermo Fisher Scientific, is the only known supplier of this type of analyser currently on the market.

The offered price with everything included is NOK 1,930,469 including VAT.
