Sircular Economy in the Nordic Countries: Potential and Necessary Measures

Miljødirektoratet [the Norwegian Environment Agency] is an administrative body for the Nordic Work group for Sicural Economy (NCE). NCE shall initiate a project for examining the potentials the circular economy can generate in selected sectors and areas in the Nordic region. The main focus is on economics, climate and the environment, including biological diversity. The work shall be based in a three-phase model. There is a need for a comprehensive knowledge base, where the consultant is first asked to identify relevant areas, sectors and industries that are most relevant for being included in the further work. The advantages for these selected areas, sectors and industries shall be analysed in phase 2. The contracting authority request quantification of advantageous effects, e.g. reduction in greenhouse gas emissions or the number of new jobs in emerging industries. An assessment shall be made of the necessary measures and instruments for generating the identified potentials. This is the last phase of the project.
