Trøndelag County will, from the academic year 2018-2019, introduce a pupil PC scheme, where pupils use private computers. Pupils can use any computer that fulfil certain minimum requirements. Pupils who are in 10th grade for the first time will get an offer to order a subsidised PC. There shall be a standard model and an expanded model that can be ordered. It is only pupils in the education programs media and communication and art, design and architecture who can order the expanded model. Pupils can only order one subsidised computer.
Each year approx. 5 500 pupils start in 10th grade in Trøndelag fylkeskommune. All of the pupils will be offered the opportunity to order a subsidised computer through this agreement. Experience from other counties with equivalent schemes shows that approx. 50 % of pupils who start the first year of the sixth form choose to use the offer for a subsidised computer from the county.
