The Norwegian Marine Research Institute would like to hire M/S EROS for ring net catches of a total of 600 tonnes of our quota in accordance with detailed measurements of the schools with sonar in the period 6.11.2017 — 19.11.2017 The measurements are included in the verification of methodology developed in the CRISP project. We are particularly after a vessel that has an assembled deep net sonar, of more than 5 metres deep, in order to avoid bubble noise from side propellers and the main propeller. The net sonar shall be used to measure the amount of herring in the net and to study the herrings' behaviour in the pressing phase. 4-5 throws shall be fished, plus 4-5 empty throws to test new instrumentation. The net sonar will also be used together with transponders to monitor the position of the bottom line during the measurements. Quality 40 60 The contracting authority will not sign a contract before 10 days after the notice date at the earliest. The actual mission is part of a time series used in the CRISP project. The project develops new instrumentation and methods for the ring net fleet, amongst other things. In this special mission, the schools shall be measured before throwing and after throwing inside the net, with a special net sonar. Normal assembly on the hull has previously given problems with air and bubble noise from the side propellers and the main propeller, but this vessel has now assembled a net sonar on the side of the centreboard, approx. 5 metres deeper. We would like to document the effect of this and, if possible, measure the herring schools inside the net properly during and after throwing and during the catching of fish.
