In 2016, the Norwegian Environment Agency and the Norwegian Agriculture Agency prepared ‘Plan for restaurering av våtmark i Norge (2016-2020)’ (‘A Plan for restoring wetland in Norway (2016-2020’). Restoring moorland and other wetland shall contribute to the achievement of the Norwegian Government's goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, adaptation to the climatic changes and improved ecological conditions. In order to obtain a better foundation for answers to which degree the goal of reduced greenhouse gas emission is achieved, the Restoration Project wishes to obtain knowledge on how fluxes of greenhouse gases are developed in moorland in connection with restoration. This is requested through monitoring greenhouse gases intensely, in moorland subject to restoration measures. The project has a five year duration and an upper economic framework of 8 500 000 NOK.
