The Norwegian Food Safety Authority is a governmental, nationwide administration body whose main assignment is to:
— Ensure that food is safe;
— Promote good health in plants, animals and fish;
— Promote ethically responsible conditions for fish and animals;
— Promote good quality and honest production and turnover;
— Sees to environmentally friendly production.
The Norwegian Food Safety Authority's case handling systems consist of digital work flow processes for carrying out inspection assignments. The systems are used by approx. 900 inspectors distributed over 5 regions with department offices across the entire country. In addition the systems support reports from businesses and the public.
Increased digitalisation is important for the development of the Norwegian Food Safety Authority. Future assignments will include, amongst other things, innovative systems for mobility and good systems for interacting with the public.
The Norwegian Food Safety Authority shall procure new contracts for maintenance and framework agreements for the further development of the inspection systems.
