Bodin 6th form college wants larger and better premises in order to increase the safety training courses offered. The premises they currently use are old and worn. To increase the course places offered, a larger space is needed.
Nordland Fylkeksommune shall renovate the L/M building at Nyholmsundet to be a safety centre for Bodin 6th form college. Until now it's function has been as a school for Bodø 6th form college, cooking, carpentry and plumbing.
It is the entire 1st floor that shall be used as a safety centre that comprises approx. 1 100 square metres.
The building has a large kitchen area that shall be renovated to be a washing, rinsing room and drying room for survival suits and fire clothing.
The project consists of:
— A washing, rinsing and drying room shall be built for survival suits, washing and drying of fire clothing;
— Air treatment system for drying of survival suits;
— Workshops for readying equipment for smoke diving, etc;
— A compression room shall be made for breathing air and work air that must be;
— Changing rooms shall be built for course participants and employees;
— Office premises shall be built with meeting room, copy room, dressing room and dining area for employees;
— Canteen with additional room and training room for course participants shall be upgraded;
— Labyrinth for exercise purposes for course participants;
— Footbridge in expanded metal from the L/M building, with exit to the west from the suit room and along the north side of the L/M building, down to the quay area between the fire house and the warm hut;
— Internal fire and evacuation signs.
