At the department of Forensic Genetics we wish to investigate the applicability of Next Generation Sequencers for use in different analysis relevant in Forensic Genetic investigations. We seek an instrument with a performance specification in sequencing yield in the range of 5-10GB with minimal hands on time for sample pre-treatment i.e. preparation of the sample prior to sequencing. The large sequencing yield is required to obtain sufficient coverage for reliable identification of rare variants in i.e. mixtures. Minimal sample pre-treatment minimizes risk of sample misplacement and sample-sample contamination. The instrument workflow must be compatible with Illumina HiSeq 2000 or HiSeq 2500 instruments.
