In 2019, the Nordic Prime Ministers agreed on a new vision for the Nordic co-operation. The aim is to ”make the Nordic region the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by 2030”. Promotion of a green transition of the societies including paths towards carbon neutrality are key elements of the vision.
Over the past years the Nordic countries have searched for opportunities for better cooperation in technical harmonisation and removing of border barriers. The challenges of harmonisation are particularly clear in the construction sector. In 2020, the Nordic Council of Ministers established a Steering group for harmonisation of building rules and regulations for a more integrated market for building in the Nordic region[.
The Commission of the EU (EC) is about to revise the Construction Products Regulation (CPR). The overall objective of the project Nordic co-operation on CPR Acquis is to actively promote the Nordic countries’ possibilities to influence the CPR Acquis work by providing technical input to the process.
