The goal of this project is to increase the knowledge and comprehension of the involvement of epigenetic changes in the etiology of five major psychiatric disorders, namely ASD, ADHD, SCZ, BD and depression. We therefore wish to embark on a hypothesis-free approach in which relevant and large sample sets providing power to locate even rare and deleterious epigenetic changes are analyzed by “Next Generation Sequencing” (NGS).
The fundamental methodology will be based on marker enrichment coupled to deep whole-genome-sequencing. This can be undertaken without a priori knowledge of causative loci and it thus in essence hypothesis-free.
The Instruments will be used in continuation of each other. The material processed in the Sonicator will be used directly in the IP-robot.
