The University of Copenhagen announces the pending contract on capacity enhancement for the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) (see www.ccafs.cgiar.org) during 2012 and 2013 to support African engagement in UNFCCC COP18 and COP 19 Agriculture and Rural Development Day.
The goal of the contract is to facilitate greater input by CCAFS stakeholders in Africa into deliberations at COP18 and COP19.
The objectives are to:
•To enhance participation by African stakeholders in discussions around UNFCCC agreements.
•To ensure high level African presentations in UNFCCC-related events, and particularly in Agriculture and Rural Development Day.
•To ensure that participants attending UNFCCC-associated and high-level speakers are familiar with and understand the latest science at the agriculture-climate change nexus, particularly science derived from CCAFS.
The task
The service provider shall provide:
•Identify African stakeholders to participate in UNFCCC COP18 and COP19 events, and in particular in Agriculture and Rural Development Day.
•Identify, in association with CCAFS, key research products that should inform debates in events around UNFCCC processes.
•Build capacity of the identified stakeholders to understand and use the research products in their participation at UNFCCC-related events
•Be willing to identify, secure and brief a high-level presenter at one or other UNFCCC-related event.
•Organise the logistics, including the payment of airfares, accommodation and per diems, of those identified stakeholders who they can sponsor with this contract.
