For decades the Nordic countries have received worldwide attention and acknowledgement for their role of facilitator between parties to conflicts. Promoting conflict resolution and reconciliation is for example a central aspect of Norway’s foreign policy, and within the Nordic region there are many key actors and experts on the subject of peace and reconciliation. However, while the field of expertise is growing global crises are also rapidly emerging.

The analysis shall focus on mapping the Nordic peace and security sector and the coordinated efforts made at a global level, including Nordic contributions to promote women’s participation and influence in processes connected to peace and security. Although a gender perspective is expected to be covered by the analysis, focus shall remain on Nordic peace and reconciliation efforts in general.
