Short description

The Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link Project (‘Project') is the final stage in the realisation of a straight traffic corridor between Scandinavia and continental Europe. This is intended to be an immersed tunnel containing two dual carriageways and a twin-track railway (‘Tunnel'). It will traverse the 19km distance across the Fehmarnbelt between Rødby on the island of Lolland in Denmark and Puttgarden on the island of Fehmarn in northern Germany.

The Tunnel Catenary and Track (‘TCT') contract relates to the design and construction of the following and such works, services and supplies that are ancillary (without limitation):

TRACK WORKS:

— 2 x 5 km (approximately) ballasted track and tie in to existing tracks in Lolland;

— 2 x 3 km (approximately) ballasted track and tie in to existing tracks in Fehmarn;

— 2 x 18 km (approximately) slab track in tunnel tubes and ramps;

— Double crossovers in both Lolland and Fehmarn;

— 8 x point heating devices in cross overs; and

— 2 x level crossings (strails or equivalent) in Lolland and Fehmarn.

CATENARY SYSTEM:

— 2 x 5 km (approximately) overhead catenary line and tie in to new catenary overhead line in Lolland;

— 2 x 3 km (approximately) overhead catenary line and tie in to new catenary overhead line in Fehmarn;

— System separation sections in Lolland and Fehmarn;

— 2 x 18 km (approximately) overhead conductor rails in tunnel tubes;

— Sectioning breakers including uninterrupted power supply in system separation sections;

— Circuit breakers and earthing switches including uninterrupted power supply for sectioning per 3.600 m;

— Earthing panel: de-energising devices per 400 m (approximately) in tunnel tubes; and

— Remote control system for catenary system and power supply, connected to Railnet Denmark's overall remote control system.

ANCILLARY CIVIL WORKS:

Femern A/S will contract with a civil works contractor to prepare the sub-base for the ballasted tracks on Lolland and Fehmarn. The prepared alignment will be handed over to the TCT contractor as a compressed gravel sub-base with slope for dewatering of the profile. The TCT contractor shall complete the cross section with sub ballast and top ballast. The tunnel ramps and tunnel tubes will be handed over to the TCT contractor as a concrete construction, ready for the roll out of slab tracks.

MAINTENANCE SERVICES:

The TCT contractor will be required to provide reliability – centred maintenance for the total track, catenary and remote control system from the date of hand-over for a period envisaged to be up to 5 years (coinciding with the defects notification period in the contract) with an option for Femern A/S to extend this by up to 8 years.

OTHER INFORMATION:

The TCT contractor will be required to coordinate closely with other Project contractors in relation to the design and execution of the works and the management of interfaces.
