Assignment text

Beginning with the 2011/2012 school year, elective subjects were introduced for grades 8–10 in secondary schools.

Beginning with the 2014/2015 school year, elective subjects will be introduced for all secondary schools and include 14 choices, with curricula and guidelines.

These include: design and redesign, practical research, practical technology, physical activity and health, international cooperation, media and information, the production of goods and services, drama, democracy in practice, volunteering, living heritage, tourism, natural environment and outdoor activities, and traffic.

The purpose of this evaluation is to learn whether the elective subjects have contributed to variation and improved practical training by the students. Accordingly, we wish to determine whether students have had truly participated in choice of electives, and feel whether they have real choices. Furthermore, it is desirable that the evaluation consider the general conditions at the schools to see whether the intentions for the elective subjects were realised.
