The municipal swimming pool “Krabbedammen” shall be subject to improvement and upgrading. Larvik municipality and Stiftelsen Tollerodden are implementing the project.
The bathing pool “Krabbedammen” is located at Tollerodden, the central parts of Larvik. Krabbedammen works as a city beach for Larvik's inhabitants and it is a suitable location for getting accustomed to water, swimming lessons, lifesaving and seaside life.
Larvik municipality is the landowner. The area is currently regulated as a leisure area and is included in the preservation project.
Krabbedammen was originally a natural lagoon. For a period Krabbedammen was used as a boat yard and a small crafts harbour When the lagoon was owned by the family Archer, the lagoon was dammed up (in the period from 1826 to 1910). The area has been a municipal leisure area since 1939 and the natural stone wall was closed /casted in concrete in the fifties and sixties. The swimming pool was subject to upgrading in the sixties /seventies.
