Monitoring of Reference Rivers (2021-2025)

Kort beskrivelse

The program has the following goals: 1) test methodology for condition classification of Norwegian rivers; 2) strengthen the data basis for setting reference values for the different quality elements in regular Norwegian river types in all eco regions; 3) contribute to fulfilling Norway's reporting obligations to vannidrektivet (the Water Framework Directive); 4) capture long-term changes in water condition resulting from climate changes or other human impacts. The program covers a broad geographic spread and includes rivers in the primary Norwegian water types from all eco regions. The program consists of 74 locations and covers relevant quality elements for rivers in accordance with the River Regulation.
