The aim is to establish a learning factory for research on Industry 4.0 and next generation production system, including interaction between people and technology, and the use of digital twining, sensor engineering, monitoring and simulation/optimisation. The need is a “mini factory” with Industry 4.0 qualities. There must be some processing, some automatic handling and extreme flexibility and it must be easy to rebuild. It must be possible to realise new strategies, ideas and layout for the production system quickly.
