A measurement apparatus for analysing chemical oxygen consumption without using chemicals. There are currently two relevant methods for avoiding expensive chemicals which are considered special waste: (1) Completely free of chemicals — combustion at 1200’C and (2) through direct oxidation with nanoparticles of titanium oxide and UV. The latter requires use of chemicals. However, these chemicals are not considered as hazardous waste. None of these methods are suitable replacements of COD as both methods give, in different ways, a higher value than the actual COD value. However a combination of these methods will give us the option to choose the best concept for relevant tests. The Contracting Authority has procured the latter. We also want to procure the first apparatus (described below) as these apparatuses are complimentary. LAR, Germany, has developed a unique apparatus that can measure the total COD without adding chemicals. Based on unprecedented injection and oxidation techniques, the QuickCOD manages all types of water samples with a higher salt content and samples with high particle count, and that in opposite to other COD analysers in the market, will not require use of chemicals during analyses. LAR is the only company in the world that manufactures COD/TOT analysers that can carry analyses without using chemicals. The closest alternative apparatus is a TOC analyser which also carries out chemical free analyses. However this apparatus is not suitable for COD/TOD in a municipal sewage system which are our core field. 2018-01-08 The TOC Company, LAR Process Analysers AG Neuköllnische Allee 134 Berlin 12057 33500.00 NMBU ÅS 1432 2018-01-15
