The objective of the project is construct new main water pipelines to satisfy IVAR's obligation in regard to backup supply of water to the Stavanger region.
Therefore, in order to be able to satisfy future obligations in regard to backup supply of water, IVAR must carry out reinforcement measures on the existing installations. The reinforcement must strengthen the transport capacity both from Langevatn to Orstad, and from Orstad to Tjensvoll reservoir.
The reinforcement of the installation will be achieved by constructing a new pipeline from Langevatn to Tjensvoll reservoir.
The pipeline shall go from the new water treatment plant at Langevatn to Tjensvoll elevated reservoir and currently the estimated dimension is Ø 1 600 mm. This is the smallest dimension that has capacity beyond the dimensioning point in time 2050. Current estimate of the length is approx. 44 km. The previous main pipe that was lain was ten kilometres shorter and had 10 valve chambers, 12-14 valve chambers are the likely need for this line.
Fig.1. Shows the selected rouse in 1:35 000. The route must be optimised in the preliminary project.
For a more detailed description of the route and project strategy, see the attached report from the draft project.
This qualification concerns engineering design of the pipeline and all associated installations. The qualification applies for both the preliminary project and detailed engineering design.
