About the contracting authority
Boreal Transport Midt-Norge AS is a public transport company with approx. 240 employees and is an operator of buses and trams. The company runs, amongst other things, Gråkallbanen in Trondheim, which is the world's northernmost tramway. The tracks extends from the centre of town at 10 m above sea level to Lian at 240 m above sea level. The steepest climb is 40:1000 (4 %).
The purpose of the procurement
The Gråkall tramway is an 8.8 km suburbian line in Trondheim The track's width is 1 000 mm. 7.2 km of the track goes on a separate route with flange rails fixed on wooden or concrete sleepers, lying on ballast gravel. Most of the ballast track is single track, with one crossing track of 850 metres and three crossing stations with double track. The ballast track shall be packed and adjusted in summer 2014. There are also 11 points on the stretch that shall be packed and adjusted. The total track length that shall be packed is 8600 metres.
