Assignment text

The building site is centrally placed in down town Oslo, between the Vestbane buildings and Aker brygge. This contract includes preparatory works before the work on the building pit itself is implemented. The work is mainly related to restructuring of infrastructure in the two parts of the site known as Enga and Sydhjørnet. The work includes the establishment of trenches, sheet piling, concrete constructions in the ground, as well as coordination of cable and pipe owners in the trench and traffic diversion in the immediate vicinity of the works.

Enga:

In Enga the existing water and sewer, and district heating will be temporarily restructured whilst a piled, cast in place trough is established. The trough is being built in a tightly enclosed sheet pile pit, and will eventually become part of the finished building. When the trough is complete, water and sewer and district heating will be re-established in this trough.

The current road in Enga serves as access for Pecunia's parking garage facility under Dronning Mauds gate. The parking facility consists of parking places for personal cars and has space for deliveries and a garbage room with containers. Access to the parking facility shall at all times be maintained when the restructuring works are in progress, including work with sheet piling and establishing of the trough.

Sydhjørnet (South Corner):

At Sydhjørnet the contract comprises the restructuring of water and sewer and electrical, which currently lies in the area where the new National museum shall be built.The conversion work is carried out near the existing tram tracks and other existing infrastructure (water pipes, heating and telephone cables). Proximity to the tram and existing infrastructure poses problems with the establishment of trenches and shoring system. Shoring to protect adjacent structures is done by driving of pipe sheet piles. Detection of wiring/cabling, and cautious digging must be carried out before sheet piles and bracing can be established. The need for flexibility must be planned for in the solution. This involves cautious digging with machines and partial hand digging. Due to proximity to the sea, water will come in with excavation below sea level.

There are plans for the tram to be placed on the outer track.
