The Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training is now calling out the contract to fulfil the role as Norwegian Research Coordinator in IEAs study International Civic and Citizenship Education. IEA is an organisation that conducts comparative trend studies of school systems and learning outcomes in the member counties. IEA collaborates with research coordinators in the participating countries.
ICCS identifies middle school students democratic readiness and commitment. This study analyses data about students' perceptions of democratic values and attitudes, their knowledge and skills and their commitment now and in the future. The analysis is done on the basis of the school's educational efforts with democracy and citizenship and on the background of home conditions and the students' lives outside of school.
The National Research Coordinator has responsibility for quality assurance of the study's instruments, for data collection and analysis and reporting in our own country. Data collection of student tests and answers to questionnaires conducted in 2016, with pilot projects in 2015, and reporting in 2017/2018. The study was last carried out in 2009, with reporting in 2010 and 2011.
