Short description

Statnett is a service company which manages the 'national highways' of the Norwegian power supply system, including connections to abroad. It is our responsibility to develop and operate the main network effectively: this comprises undersea cables, transformer stations and connections.

Statnett is facing the largest grid investment initiative in a long time. The next generation main grid will ensure a reliable supply of electricity; pave the way for industrial and commercial development as well as economic growth and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

In the recently announced investment plan, the total estimate for how much Statnett will invest in the main grid in the next decade has increased from last year’s estimate of NOK 40-50 billion to a new updated estimate of NOK 50-70 billion.

The reason for this is an increase in project volume, both in terms of new projects being included and existing projects having become more extensive. 83 per cent of the investment portfolio consists of projects that are still in the planning phase and for which a development decision has not yet been made. Almost all the estimated costs are related to this project category.

Statnett is using the Sellihca Qualification System, the Scandinavian prequalification scheme for energy supply for which prequalification rules are published in the Official Journal of the European Community. Further Statnett's procurement processes are being conducted under the Law on Public Sector Procurement no. 69 of July 16th, 1999 and the Supply Rules of April 7th, 2006.

Therefore, Statnett SF urges all interested suppliers to register in the Sellihca Qualification System. This registration is a prerequisite for becoming a supplier to Statnett. For more information, please visit Statnett SF’s website www.statnett.no
