The purpose of the present tender is to provide DR with a contract for services relating to DR’s FM/AM/DAB Broadcasting Networks.
The existing FM/AM/DAB Broadcasting Networks comprise of:
A) Three VHF/FM transmitting networks located on approximately 17 main sites and a further 9 relay stations;
B) A 2Mb/s distribution network to provide the main VHF/FM transmitters with program feeds;
C) Two DAB transmitting networks located on approximately 63 sites;
D) A 2Mb/s distribution network to provide the DAB transmitters with program feeds;
E) A single long-wave AM transmitting station;
F) Radio Electronic News Gathering equipment operating around 400MHz, located at 26 of the transmitting sites;
The sites (some services share facilities) are (roughly) distributed in the Danish provinces as follows:
1. Bornholm, approximately 5 sites;
2. Sjælland + surrounding islands, approximately 10 sites;
3. Fyn + surrounding islands; approximately 10 sites;
4. Jylland, approximately 40 sites.
G) Network Management Service operating on a 24-7 basis to gather data from the transmitting sites and to control Operations and Maintenance staff who will be dispatched to repair and maintain the network as may be required;
H) Management of other Telecommunications service delivery associated with the Broadcast Networks;
I) Site infrastructure support as may be required.
Overall the contract being offered will include three important objects:
1) Service, operation and maintenance of the DR DM/AM/DAB Broadcasting Networks with an estimated value of 20 000 000 DKK a year.
2) Site infrastructure support related to the DR FM/AM/DAB Broadcasting Networks with an estimated value of 2 000 000 DKK a year.
3) An option for reinvestment in FM-transmitter-equipment with an estimated value for purchases of approximately 10-15 000 000 DKK and related site infrastructure support of approximately 5 000 000 DKK: In the light of the fact that some of DR’s FM-transmitters are old, DR at the time of publication of this notification expects a replacement to be profitable. This means that DR obtains a right to decide whether and / or when the option may be fulfilled. DR shall not be obligated to execute the option.
The duration of the contract is 10 years. The total value of the contract in the contract period is thus estimated to 235–240 000 000 DKK including the estimated value of the option replacing FM-transmitter-equipment.
