To meet the increased demand for transport and the resultant congestion, a new LRT system is being developed for Aarhus.
Phase 1 of the Aarhus light rail project includes a connection of the existing regional train network linking the Odder and Grenaa routes and modification to the alignment to accommodate light rail traffic and construction of a new 14 km double-tracked light rail section from Aarhus H to connect to the existing alignment at Lystrup, North of Aarhus.
The contract consists of the design, build and maintenance of diesel hybrid tram-trains. The tram-trains shall be capable to operating on sections with LRT. The contract will include maintenance of the rolling stock. In addition an option for catenary free section along the harbour is included.
