The synchronous compensator in Vester Hassing was installed in 1965 in connection with the establishment ofthe HVDC-connection Konti-Skan 1. This means that the magnetization-, protection- and control equipment etc.has been functioning longer than the design life of 30 years.
An assessment of life span conducted in 2004 revealed that the compensator itself is in a good condition with aremaining life expectancy of at least 15-20 years. Energinet.dk has thus decided to renovate the compensator.
The renovation project of the synchronous compensator in Vester Hassing will include the replacement of:
— protection- and control equipment,
— magnetizing equipment,
— start/stop equipment,
— local control including interface towards remote control.
The compensator type is an ASEA TYPE G 2225 at 100 MVar.
