Nordic Bridges is a one-year cultural initiative taking place across all of Canada, led by
Harbourfront Centre in Toronto. Artists and stakeholders from all the Nordic countries are collaborating with and performing alongside Canadian artists at around 20 festivals, arts institutions and museums across the country, as well as on the road with several events intended for touring.
Nordic Bridges is being pursued in accordance with the Nordic ministers for culture’s concept for joint Nordic cultural initiatives outside the Nordic Region and is a valuable element in the Nordic co-operation programme on cultural policy for 2021 to 2024 and the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Action Plan.
The evaluation must enable the Nordic ministers for culture to use the findings as a basis for their continued political discussions on the future of sustainable Nordic international ventures, the profiling of Nordic culture abroad, as well as the Nordic culture sector’s conditions and need for these kinds of interactions with the rest of the world.
In other words, the evaluation of Nordic Bridges must expand on the potential and challenges of joint Nordic cultural initiatives, determine their effect on the competitiveness of Nordic culture, and provide clear recommendations on future political endeavours such as Nordic Bridges.
