The Department of Biomedicines at Aarhus University wishes to purchase a microscope system that can be placed on a desktop/benchtop, and can perform fluorescence (in 2D and 3D), 3D single-particle tracking (SPT), total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF), Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET), direct stochastical optical reconstruction microscopy (dSTORM) and photo-activated localization microscopy (PALM) microscopy. The aim of this research is to visualize living yeast cells but also cells transfected with fluorescent reporter proteins and/or infected with fluorescent viruses, with high resolution and depending of the approach, collect accurate quantitative measurements. The microscope has to possess such a large spectrum of imaging technology to be able to carry out all the type of fluorescence-based experiment that are currently carried out.
