Short description
The monitoring is part of the trilateral water monitoring program for the border area between Norway, Finland and Russia and is part of the work program (2019-2021) for the Norwegian-Russian Environmental Protection Commission (DGS-1). The main impact on water bodies is airborne pollution from industry on the Russian side of the border. In addition, the Karpelva is affected by humpback salmon and is also an important locality for river mussels.
Based on this, the County Governor wants to monitor physico-chemical and biological parameters in the water in 2022.
