Short description
Oslo municipality, Bymiljøetaten [the Department of Urban Development] is the municipality's professional body in relation to roads, road traffic and public transport on roads. The contracting authority is responsible for the municipal road network, including the standardised county road network. Bymiljøetaten is responsible for following up on noise and air pollution requirements from the road as well as responsibility for long-term traffic planning, traffic and use of street plans, traffic safety and plans for accessibility measures for public transport and operation of municipal urban spaces in Oslo. The urban spaces include common areas such as roads and streets, squares, meeting places, parks and recreational areas.
An important part of this administrative responsibility is related to the procurement of services for the operation and maintenance of the road network in order to ensure good conditions for all road users.
