Short description
Equinor ASA has, on assignment from Gassnova, developed and planned a system for transport and permanent storage of CO2. The system includes ship transport of chilled CO2 from industrial actors, a system for reception and temporary storage of liquid CO2 from ships, further transport in an offshore pipeline, injection and permanent storage in a reservoir (storage location) at the continental shelf.
The receiving plant in the Naturgassparken in Øygarden municipality will temporarily store liquid CO2 in storage tanks. From there, it is pumped to the injection well through a new pipeline. The capacity of the storage tanks is adapted to the capacity of the transport ships, so that entire ship lots can be stored. At the plant there is intermediate storage, change of pressure and temperature and export for injection.
